Stream Alerts in depth

2 min read

Platforms

PlatformHow it is checked
TwitchTwitch's own data, every couple of minutes.
YouTubeThe channel's live status.
TikTokThe public profile and live page. There is no official TikTok live API, so a check can occasionally fail.
KickKick's official API if the server host has set it up, otherwise the public channel data.

A streamer is only announced once they have been live and is only marked offline after a few quiet checks, so a brief drop in connection doesn't cause repeat posts.

Adding streamers by hand

On the Stream Alerts page choose a platform, paste a channel link or type a username, and press Add streamer.

Adding streamers from a role

  1. Under Add streamers from a role, pick your streamer role and press Save.
  2. Discord doesn't let bots see anyone's linked accounts, so each streamer links once. Post the link button in a channel, or tell them to run /linkstreams.
  3. Press Scan now. Everyone in the role who has linked is added, with their Twitch, YouTube, TikTok and Kick.
  4. Turn on Keep checking to add new streamers automatically. It never removes anyone.

The link uses Discord login and reads the connections the member has chosen to show. It needs no extra setup.

Filters

  • Only these games limits Twitch alerts to the games you list.
  • Title must contain needs at least one of your words in the stream title.

New videos, Shorts and TikToks

For YouTube and TikTok streamers you can also post their new uploads.

  1. In the streamer list, tick Post new videos and Shorts (YouTube) or Post new TikToks (TikTok).
  2. Optional: pick a different channel and a ping under New videos and posts channel and Ping for new videos and posts in the settings.

The first check after you tick the box only remembers what is already there, so old uploads are never posted. YouTube uploads are read from the channel's public feed. TikTok has no public feed, so it reads the profile page and can occasionally be blocked.

Choosing who gets pinged

  • The Ping setting in the settings card is the default for go-live posts.
  • Each streamer has their own Ping menu. Choose Server default, No ping, @here, @everyone or a role. A streamer's own choice also applies to their new-video posts.
  • Nobody is pinged unless you choose it. That includes member streams: set Ping for member streams if you want one.

Member streams

Announce members who stream posts when anyone in your server shows a live status on Discord, even if they aren't on the streamer list.
